Ways to Bond With Your Pet During Pet Appreciation Week

Your pet is a treasured member of your family–what better way to show your love than to celebrate Pet Appreciation Week? This June 4 – 10, we’re taking some extra time to show our furry friends how much we care about them. Here are some of our top tips for caring for your pet during Pet Appreciation Week and all year round!

Break a Sweat

Exercise is important for everyone–humans and pets alike! Dogs need regular walks and time to run around, while cats need stimulating indoor playtime. If you’re not sure how much exercise your individual pet needs, please ask your veterinarian during your pet’s next checkup. They can evaluate your pet’s lifestyle factors and create an appropriate course of action.

Treat Your Pet

Pets love treats just as much as humans do. While it’s not advisable to give your pet treats all the time, a pet-friendly cookie or snack is a great way to add some variety to their diet and show them some extra love. Before giving your pet any new food, make sure they don’t have any allergies or sensitivities to the ingredients.

Visit Your Veterinarian

One of the absolute best things you can do for your dog or cat is to bring them to annual veterinarian visits. Even if there is nothing noticeably wrong, your pet still needs regular checkups to ensure optimal health and happiness with annual vaccines and bloodwork. Plus, if your pet is showing any early signs of health conditions, your veterinarian can catch them before they get worse.

This Pet Appreciation Week, show your pet how much you care by contacting your veterinarian to schedule an annual check-up. Prevention and preparation are the keys to a long, happy life for your dog or cat, and your veterinarian is here to help you provide your furry friend with the best care possible.
